The Emperor provides, or at least Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive do, with the new Obelisk update for Space Marine 2.
The Dark Angels are here
Maybe the chief inclusion in the just launched Obelisk update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the Dark Angels have indeed arrived. That might seem kind of odd to say, since there’s much more to the new update, but the cosmetic pack addresses a pretty big absence, bringing the chapter to the game’s multiplayer modes.
The Angels arrive along with a new Operation titled the same as the update itself, Obelisk. In that, players will head back to the world of Demerium, where they’ll face the fast-moving new aerial enemy, the Tzaangor Enlightened.
Today’s update takes players back to the burial world of Demerium with a new Operation titled “Obelisk,” available today to all Space Marine 2 players for free! In addition, players will now have to face the Tzaangor Enlightened and avoid its deadly, fast-paced attacks as it careens across the battlefield on its Disc of Tzeentch. Stay alert, as this new enemy will be found in every Operation (PvE) mission featuring the Thousand Sons from now on.
Season Pass owners also receive the Dark Angels Chapter Pack, which comes with a new Champion skin for the Bulwark class, three weapons skins for the Plasma Pistol, Auto Bolt Rifle and Power Sword, a new Storm Shield skin and over 40 unique cosmetics celebrating eight of the Dark Angels Successor Chapters.
Focus Entertainment press relase
Beyond the Obelisk
Aside from the bulk of the update, there’s even more landing today for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Obelisk comes complete with a set of improvements for both console and PC fans, including a boost for PS5 Pro players.
Sony’s console revision will now offer up 60FPS in Performance Mode and 30 FPS in Quality Mode for Space Marine 2. The increase comes thanks to the PlayStation 5 Pro’s Spectral Super Resolution, according to the game’s publisher Focus Entertainment, which allows for an upscaling to 4k resolution. On the flip side, PC players can “take full advantage of AMD’s FSR 3 and Nvidia’s DLSS3 with the addition of frame generation support.”
There’s even more though, as the game is tying into the just launched Netflix show, Secret Level. For those who don’t know, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has an episode of the show all to itself, and the game will be getting in on the action via some Twitch drops.
Those will include “a breastplate for the Bulwark class and an Iron Halo for the Heavy”. The drops can be grabbed as of today at noon eastern time, and Focus Entertainment says you can add them to your own game by watching “two hours of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 streams on Twitch before December 31″.
