Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 to get panel at Anime Expo

Anime Expo attendees will be in for some Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, as CD Projekt Red’s animated adaptation heads to the show.

Premiering on Netflix back in 2022, the inaugural season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a hit with fans. The show spun out of 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077 action/role-playing game, with itself was an adaptation of the tabletop RPG. The show was pretty loaded too, fleshing out more of the world of Night City that fans had seen in the game.

New characters would debut, along with some familiar mechanized faces. Both were rolled into a whole new tale, one that took place before V began his/her ride into infamy. As most fans could tell you as well, it also brought a whole new swath of players to that video game.

That wasn’t held in the best light at the time either. As has been stated dozens of times, that was the result of a pretty banged up launch. Although it should also be added that the title would recover nicely. And since then, it’s become much more of the game that players were looking for originally.

Let’s get back to that show though, because there’s more on the horizon. And yes, that’d be season two of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is indeed inbound. If you’re in the lot of fans itching for its launch, then you might want to check out a panel presentation coming to Anime Expo.

Anime Cyberpunks

As mentioned, anime Expo will be heading to the dark future of Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be the topic of a panel, complete with some big time guests. On that end, both showrunner Bartosz Sztybor and anime executive producer Saya Elder from CD Projekt Red will take the stage. They’ll be joined by Kai Ikarashi from TRIGGER, who’s the series director, and host Danny Motta.

So you’ve got the cast, but what will they be discussing? Well, plenty from the sound of it, as CD Projekt Red says to expect them to be revealing “an exclusive closer look at the new story set in Night City.”

The guests will discuss the origins and reception of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the creative process behind Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Fans gathered at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles will also get an exclusive closer look at the new story set in Night City.

The panel follows last year’s Anime Expo announcement, where CD PROJEKT RED revealed that it was working with TRIGGER on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. During that presentation, the logo and first promotional poster for the upcoming series were unveiled.

The Anime Expo Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 panel will kick off at 7:30pm on July 3rd. And if you don’t know, that’ll be held in the Crypto.com Arena, right in California’s Los Angeles.
