Razer’s latest brings Street Fighter’s Ryu to the Kitsune line

Street Fighter fans may want to check out Razer’s latest Kitsune controller. The stick-less peripheral brings Ryu’s aesthetic to the line.

Ryu x Kitsune

Are you familiar with Razer’s Kitsune line of arcade controllers? We can’t actually call them ‘sticks’ because… well, there aren’t any sticks included. While the controller holds the familiar footprint of an arcade stick, the line eschews the stick for directional buttons.

Some players prefer that layout, as it can lend itself to more precise inputs. We definitely get that, as analogue sticks can be aggravating, possibly for this writer in particular. There’s nothing more annoying after all, than going for a shoryuken to end a fight and instead pulling off a fierce punch.

As mentioned, the Kitsune controllers look to correct those kinds of issues, while still giving players the arcade form-factor and aesthetic that they want. Speaking of aesthetics too, Razer’s latest entry in the series has a very particular one. That, as you can see above, is the visage of Street Fighter star and perennial loner, Ryu.

Here’s the first look at the Kitsune – Ryu Edition.

Every detail of the Kitsune – Ryu Edition is crafted to mirror Ryu’s discipline and resolve. Vibrant red accents channel his fighting spirit, made to stand out from the game room to the tournament hall. Underneath the art is the same Kitsune fighters already trust, an all-button optical arcade controller for PS5 and PC engineered for tournament-ready precision.

Razer press release

Coming to PS5 and PC next month

The Kitsune – Ryu Edition is coming up for the PS5 and PC, and includes that aforementioned “Quad Movement Button Layout”. That’s not the only claim to fame though, as Razer says the unit will also stock “Low-Profile Linear Optical Switches”. The aim there, similar to the stickless approach, is speed. The manufacturer adds that the controller should “deliver lighting-fast, ultra-responsive inputs for sharper footsies and whiff punishes at the highest level of play.”

While we’re on the subject of bells and whistles, and since this is Razer we’re talking about, yes, there’s RGB. Chroma will be in full effect for this release, and allow some customizability too. Users will be able to “customize lighting across multiple color combinations and pre-loaded effects to channel your inner World Warrior with every bout.”

So when does all of this arrive? Pretty darn soon actually. Razer says that the Kitsune – Ryu Edition is up for pre-order right now (for both the PS5 and PC), and will start shipping next month. And yes, we mean ‘July 2026’ by that. Those pre-orders are posted right now on Razer.com, as well as brick and mortar Razer locales, with the price of $319.99 USD attached.
