Sid Meier’s Civilization VII gets dated, brings the latest chapter in the series to fans in February

Reveled not all that long ago, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII now has a release date, heading to consoles and PC in early 2025.

The addition begins again

There are a few game series’ in the annals of the medium that have a particular magic, one that pulls in players from almost any branch of the fandom. Even if you’re not a typical player of whatever genre one of these titles belongs to, there’s a draw to check out each new release. And as far as we’re concerned, Sid Meier’s Civilization is definitely on the list.

The 70 million unit selling series has that vibe from our vantage point, and really has since its start, way back in 1991. Now here in 2024, fans are eagerly awaiting the seventh installment, set to bring the familiar age-spanning, empire-building gameplay back to life once again.

“We’re incredibly excited to take players on a new type of journey through history in Sid Meier’s Civilization VII,” stated Ed Beach, Creative Director at Firaxis Games. “With the introduction of revolutionary new features such as Ages, the ability to select leaders and civilizations independently to mix and match gameplay bonuses, a beautiful new art style and more, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII promises to be true to our goal of being the ultimate historical strategy game.”

“Building an empire to stand the test of time has never felt more historically immersive,” stated Dennis Shirk, Executive Producer at Firaxis Games. “This is easily the biggest and most ambitious Civilization game we’ve ever made, one that we plan to support for many years to come.”
