SEGA’s latest Shinobi title is making the leap from current platforms to the Switch 2. Players can look for it this fall.
Shinobi strikes the Switch 2
Come to think of it, it’s kind of weird that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance wasn’t out already for the Switch 2. If you haven’t been following it, the latest entry in the long-running series released for other platforms last August. And yes, that included an edition for the original Switch.
Then again, the Switch 2 only released in June of that year, so maybe we shouldn’t nitpick. And anyway, SEGA is about to see to that little oversight. That was revealed today, with word that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will finally be making its way to that latest Nintendo console.
For those who’ve been waiting patiently, the release will come sooner than later too. Fans will be able to look for both digital and physical versions of the side-scrolling actioner to hit the Switch 2 on September 24th, 2026.
In the game, players once again take control of the series star, who’s fresh off his last adventure. There’s no rest for the ninja though, as he’s immediately pushed into a new quest. This time, it’s to find out who razed his home village, and turned his clan to stone.
Created in collaboration with Lizardcube, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance follows longtime series protagonist and master of the ninja arts, Joe Musashi, who arrives home from a previous adventure to find his village burned to the ground and his clan turned into stone. Driven by vengeance, Joe sets off on an epic quest, battling hordes of enemies and larger-than-life bosses across stunning hand-drawn worlds. Rife with multiple paths to discover or unlock and packed with smooth, satisfying gameplay, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will have players attacking and reacting on the move and keep them coming back for more.
Sega press release
Along with the base edition of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, fans can look for a Deluxe Edition. There’ll actually be two of those, with both digital and physical Deluxe‘s seeing release. Both will include the SEGA Villains Stage DLC pack as well, which sets players against a trio of classic SEGA bad guys. These are no minor, niche characters either, and include Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog, Like a Dragon/Yakuza’s Shimano Goro Majima, and Death Adder, from the classic hack ‘n slash Golden Axe.
As for additional platforms, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is also out now for the PS4/5, XBOX One/XBOX Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
