The dead will rise a week early, as Dead Island 2 nudges release up

The long-awaited zombies of Dead Island 2 just can’t hang on any longer. Deep Silver has revealed that the survival title will be out a week early.

Time to rise and bite

They’re coming. The dead are rising, the living are turning, and the once paradisiacal city of LA has fallen into a murderous, blood-soaked mess now known as Hell-A. Yes, it’s finally time for Dead Island 2. Well, almost.

If you’ve been itching to finally play this long-awaited title though, we do have some good news for you since it’ll be coming out just a tad early. Originally set to close out April with a 28th launch, the game will be hitting consoles and the PC on the 21st instead.

Why? Well, the game has officially gone gold, and there’s apparently no reason to wait quite that much longer. So to that end, publisher Deep Silver has gone and rescheduled the launch date for a week ahead of time. While it’s not exactly that big of a push-up, it’s still kinda nice to get to experience the apocalyptic landscape of Hell-A a little sooner.

And if you’d like to see more of it in the meantime, we’ve been rolling with coverage of Dead Island 2’s series of pre-launch videos. You can expect a lot more of those too, as the publisher has said video looks at the game’s world will keep hitting from now through launch. Which, again, will be April 21st, 2023.
