The DC Comics property will be hitting the nightly TV schedule this Fall and now NBC has released the first full look at the show.
Played by Criminal Minds star Matt Ryan, this version of Constantine certainly looks a heck of a lot closer to the original DC Comics Vertigo series Hellblazeer than the the movie that starred Keanu Reeves a few years back. Ryan even wears the trademarked red tie and trench coat that Constantine wears in the comics; points for that.
It’s still more than a little uncertain if this Constantine will be linked at all to the blossoming DC Cinematic Universe that already includes Man of Steel and the forthcoming Batman/Superman film. Of course, it’s still uncertain whether Warner Bros own CW shows (Flash and Arrow) will be linked to it and those are almost no-brainers, so who knows what’s going to happen really. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Constantine wasn’t a part of the upcoming DCCU festivities though, considering that the character wasn’t really a part of the DC Universe in the comic series’ till the birth of the New 52 anyway.
Whatever road the different properties take down the line, Constantine (which is another project of David S. Goyer of Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises fame) will cast its spell on the airwaves this coming Autumn on NBC. Look for it to air on Friday nights, right after the hit supernatural show Grimm.
