Okay, so it wasn’t a well-kept secret, but The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is real, and it’s also out now for consoles and PC.
Here we go again
Was The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered the worst-kept secret of 2025? Probably not, all things considered (and we’re looking at you Switch 2), but it was definitely one of them. The remastering of the Bethesda classic has been rumored for seemingly a few years now as well, so it’s not like it was sneaking up on anyone.
That mill ramped up considerably in the last few weeks too, and it crescendoed into the leak of a selection of in-game screenshots last weekend. That drizzling of imagery leads us to today however, and the official reveal for the game, spinning out of the studio Virtuous.
If you have fond memories of your time in Cyrodiil, and we sure do, then you’re going to want to watch the below trailer as soon as possible. Yeah, it’s called a ‘remaster’, but what’s been created looks more like a full-on remake.
Take it away, Sir Patrick Stewart…
Stop the forces of Oblivion from overtaking the land and experience all (and more) that the predecessor to the award-winning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has to offer. Step inside a universe bursting with captivating stories, encounter an unforgettable cast of characters, join storied guilds, conquer the legendary Arena, and ultimately become the Champion of Cyrodiil. Players can experience the complete story with The Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, also included in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Bethesda press release
As mentioned above, not only is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered official, but it’s also available. The title was shadow dropped onto the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC as of just a short time ago, and is ready for purchase. As you might imagine as well, if you’re a Game Pass subscriber (for Xbox), you’re good to roll into Tamriel already. The game was a day one arrival for the service.
