Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have dropped a more detailed look at Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2’s versus and co-op.
That’s a whole lotta war
For those who might be unaware, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set to deliver more than just a campaign that sees Titus return to action. Also included with developer Saber Interactive’s sequel will be full versus and co-operative modes, each of which offer up some interesting options.
For one thing, the co-op (called Operations mode) is not just the game’s campaign, but includes a semi-mission structure all by itself. In it, players will choose a class and engage with the Tyrannids in support of Titus. On the flip side, the PvP versus mode won’t include the hideous xenos at all, instead shifting to the classic Space Marine vs Chaos Marine dynamic.
Fight With Your Friends… or Against Them!
Whether playing in Operations (PvE) or Eternal War (PvP), you’ll choose one of six playable classes (Tactical, Assault, Vanguard, Bulwark, Sniper, and Heavy) and earn Armoury Data and Requisition Points to spend on your Space Marine’s appearance through the game’s deep customization system. You can either unlock the game’s many Chapter presets, or create your own custom Chapters by piecing together individual cosmetic items, be it armor or weapon skins! The more you play, the more cosmetics you will earn!

Following up on the above, players should expect what sounds like significant post-launch support. Focus Entertainment says that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will receive free updates that will include “new “Operations” missions, PvP maps, enemies, and weapons”.
Also if you buy into the Season Pass, you can naturally expect much more. Though we don’t have any further info on it just yet, the Season Pass will serve up “additional cosmetics and Chapter heraldry through seasonal, themed DLC celebrating the many fan-favorite factions of the Warhammer 40,000 universe”. That’s a mighty interesting little detail at the end there.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is coming up for launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 9th, 2024.
