SDCC ’24: DC Comics expanding its presence this year, with exclusives, panels, screenings and more

There’s going to be a big Con this year for DC fans, who’ll find what looks to be a vastly expanded presence in San Diego.

That’s more like it

It certainly looks as though DC is set for a big SDCC this year. At least, that’s what’s being touted in the press release we just got. And from reading through it, it does seem to be the case, though we probably shouldn’t be shocked by that change to the status quo. While an impactful DC presence is something that we haven’t seen in a while, don’t forget that the publisher has a pretty big new movie initiative.

Director James Gunn is partially in command of that, with a brand new “DCU” big screen slate that will begin with 2025’s Superman. So while DC hasn’t had the biggest of presences at any of the major Conventions in recent years after all, making a bigger footprint for itself only makes sense.

This year, fans will be able to find tons of show exclusives to buy, signings, in-booth (#4545) happenings, plentiful panels, and screenings to get in on. As you might imagine, most of that will be spread out across the full scope of the convention, so you’ll have multiple things to check out each day, and it won’t be just in the DC booth proper.

Fair warning though, what you’re about to read through is a pretty massive list. So that said, you might want to grab a beverage before you scroll down and read through.

DC Shop Exclusives

Available only at the DC Booth, Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Shop is offering fans the first official merchandise from the highly anticipated film Superman by director James Gunn. In addition to a new design exclusive to DC Shop, the collection also features the newly unveiled Superman S-shield as it will appear in the upcoming film, currently in production.

DC Shop will also offer exclusive must-have items for DC Super Hero fans and Super-Villains enthusiasts across apparel, collectibles and accessories! On sale in DC’s expanded new booth will be a wide variety of comic books, graphic novels, and new merchandise from DC. Meta Exclusives

Meta will have a 20’ lightbox promoting Batman: Arkham Shadow, a Meta Quest 3 exclusive developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios, in one corner of the DC Booth and their game trailer will be shown on the TV screens as part of the looping video reel. Experience Gotham City like never before! Take down its most notorious criminals using a built-for-VR evolution of Arkham’s iconic freeform combat. Camouflaj has faithfully reimagined the entire experience for VR—from bone-crunching combat to stealth to predator encounters to Detective Vision. Candy Digital Exclusives

To commemorate San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Candy Digital and DC are launching the next chapter in Batman: The Legacy Cowl, the first original DC comic on the blockchain that was shaped through fan voting. Releasing Thursday July 25, 2024, at San Diego Comic-Con and on the Candy Digital platform, the new physical-digital comic titled Catwoman: The Legacy Cowl is the next installment of the fan-voted DC comic series. Written by Cavan Scott with cover art by Jonboy Meyers and art by Fico Ossio, fans can collect the physical-digital comic for free at the DC booth at San Diego Comic-Con, while supplies last. Beginning Thursday, July 25, fans can visit the DC Booth (#4545) on the convention center floor at San Diego Comic-Con to see one of Oz Cobb’s iconic suits from The Penguin.
