No delays – DC’s Doomsday Clock #5 will hit stores this month after all

DC Comics originally said there’d be a delay on their Doomsday Clock event series. But it looks like the book will be staying on track after all. Expect it at retail on the 30th.

Doomsday?

I wouldn’t say that the reaction to a Doomsday Clock delay was all that bad honestly. DC announced not long ago that the series’ next issue wouldn’t be making its May release. Instead, it would be landing in stores this June. That would have meant that issues five and six would have run monthly in all likelihood. Yes, it was mildly annoying, but I don’t actually recall any kind of “outrage” or even mild aggravation from fans.

Still, the delay apparently didn’t sit all that well with the publisher. DC has now announced that the series will be staying on schedule.

Here’s writer Geoff Johns talking about it, and artist Gary Frank:

“Gary and I are working diligently to deliver a thought-provoking and beautifully drawn series that’s unlike anything else on the shelves today,” says Johns. “It’s incredibly important to us to keep up the quality of DOOMSDAY CLOCK, but also to deliver it on the bimonthly schedule and we intend to keep our word. Issue #5 will begin the countdown for the DC Universe as the worlds of the Watchmen and DC collide full-on. Expect to see characters known and obscure step into the spotlight. And the strangest team-up you’ve ever seen.”

Doomsday Clock #5 will be on the racks on May the 30th, and so that easy you can expect #6 to hit this July.

Here’s an unlettered tease on what’s in the upcoming installment:

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
