The exclusive DLC for the Nintendo Switch launch version of “I Am Setsuna” is now available for free thanks to a new update.
The Facts
Made by Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory and originally released in 2016 for the PS4 and PC, “I Am Setsuna” was announced to have a port for the Nintendo Switch, complete with exclusive new multiplayer DLC content, earlier this year. The DLC was added free of charge in the port’s latest update, allowing players to enter the Temporal Battle Arena. Through it, they can battle friends or strangers for new equipment, though it can’t be accessed until players finish the game and encounter the character Togi in the Frozen Lands. It has not yet been announced if or when this content will be available on PS4 or PC.
Author’s Take
It’s great to see Switch owners get an incentive for picking up “I Am Setsuna” when it’s been out for so long, and it seems like a worthwhile addition to the game. That said, Nintendo’s online functionality still isn’t stellar. It will be interesting to see how well they can maintain and cultivate this mechanic moving forward.
