The latest Call of Duty brings players back to Modern Warfare this fall. And if you pre-order, you’ll be able to play a little sooner.
Early Call of Duty
Revealed not all that long ago, Activision and Infinity Ward’s latest Call of Duty is looking like it could be a return to form. For the first time in a while, the campaign and multiplayer seem to be on the same page, and framed by hard-hitting, grounded military action. If you’re a long-time fan, that’s likely a sight for sore optics. It definitely was for us, and we say that even as we’ve generally enjoyed the franchise’s campaigns.
And if you’re a fan who’s been itching to play, then Activision has an interesting deal for you. As you can see from the headline, that’s that the publisher has revealed an early access period. And yes, it’s just for those who pre-order.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 officially arrives on October 23rd, but if you pre-order it digitally, you can shave a decent amount of time off to that. And we’re not talking about three days either. Nope, instead, those plunking down a reserve will get their copy on October 16th. Not bad at all.
Maybe the only bummer here, is that early access is tied to pre-ordering a digital copy of the game. Of course, if you normally do that anyway, that’s not much of a problem. If you don’t though, and we have to admit that we’re partial to physical games, then the option might be a little less appealing.
What is cool though, is that you don’t have to buy some special edition that costs 10-20% more. All you have to do is to pre-order the Standard Digital Edition to get in on the opportunity. Not that securing a digital copy of the higher-end Vault Edition won’t get you in as well, because it will, but that’s still kind of great. The full skinny is here on the official site, as well as much more about the game.
For those who’d like to take advantage, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is available for pre-order right now via the XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, PS5, and PC (via Battle.net and Steam). The game is also coming to the Switch 2, and pre-orders should be available for that platform some time soon.
