A zombie-themed beat ’em up? Yep, that’s right, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will send players into a 2D apocalypse.
The punching dead
If you haven’t noticed, there’s been a pretty big renaissance over the least few years, as goes a formerly dormant genre. That would be the beat ’em up, a genre that was once king of the hill, particularly on consoles. But while the heyday might’ve been the 90s, it’s back in force.
Said style of game came roared back with the likes of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Marvel Cosmic Invasion and others. Now you can add one more name to the roster of titles, with The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival.
Yes, it’s a side-scrolling action title that brandishes the TWD license. How’s that for unique? But while walkers will play a big part in the action, players won’t only be battling them in this single player title from TRAILMARK Games and AMC Global Media. Far from it actually, as the game looks like it’ll more or less encapsulate a good chunk of the show’s “All-Out War” story arc.
And you better believe that means that the villainous version of Negan will be present and accounted for.

Walker swarms, hard-hitting bosses
As you can see in the trailer, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival should present a pretty varied play through. While most beat ’em ups throw more than one foe at you at a time, this one sounds like it’ll up the ante. That’s according to AMC Global Media anyway, so says that players will face walker swarms.
Again though, the rotten dead won’t be your only worries. Gangs of Saviors will be out and about as well, looking to put a stop to playable characters Daryl, Michonne, and Rick. Then there are the bosses. On the undead side, walkers like Winslow and the Well Walker will be ready to shamble. And hailing from the land of the living? Look for the aforementioned Negan and Simon to be there, and figure into “intense, multi-phase boss battles”.
Ready to make mincemeat out of some walkers? If you’re a PC player, then you’ve got a chance to play right now, with a demo version of the game. That’s ready to brawl via Steam. As for the full game, which is also coming to the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and the Switch/Switch 2, that’ll be a little longer.
