Valve’s new Steam controller finally coming to retail this October

Yep, you’re finally going to get to play PC games with that far out stickless Steam controller.

Announced seeming thousands of years ago (so slightly more in the modern era than the Oculus Rift announcement), the Steam controller is finally almost ready to ship to gamers. And you know what? It actually looks really neat.

I’m happy to admit that as someone who wasn’t completely sold on the controller’s functionality and design. I just might fit the target audience perfectly though, so keep that in mind. For a long time now, I’ve had my PC connected to my TV in the living room, and to play shooters and such is perfectly fine with an Xbox 360 controller in hand.

RTS’ and games needing a mouse specifically though? Yeah, not all that easy. That looks like it’s about to change though. With this little puppy, you can play with a pad that mimics a mouse just fine, and that’s something that I’m honestly dying to try out. If that fits you too, then you’ll probably be interested to know that you’re actually able to pre-order one of these right now from Valve (it’ll also be available at GameStop).

Hit this link and head on over to get your order in. But you might want to hurry, as Valve says they’ll only have a limited supply ready to go for the October 16th, 2015 release date.
