The first teaser for Batman v Superman officially released

You’ve probably seen it already (as well as that crappy bootleg version), but here’s the awesome teaser for Batman v Superman in all its HD glory one more time.

With both Batman v Superman and Star Wars: The Force Awakens getting a tease and a full on trailer respectively, last week was pretty great for film fans. Of course, while Star Wars hit the web right on time, BvS released early thanks to a leak. Although the real thing (which is what you see above) was set to hit today anyway, so releasing it last Friday wasn’t the worst thing in the world.

The trailer has garnered mixed reviews from viewers, which I find bizarre since it’s pretty damn awesome and hits all the right notes for a tease. And yes, it’s dark and gritty and has some pretty heady and deep themes. And it seems to play with all this unapologetically. The tone is radically different than the generally upbeat and sometimes comedic Marvel films, and that’s a good thing. As much as I like those movies, if both of the big two’s Cinematic Universes were turning out to be the same in feel, that’d be pretty boring.

And if you weren’t crazy about it because you’re looking for more of Lex Luthor than just his voice (which is what you hear in there at the beginning), and want some glimpses of Wonder Woman and Aquaman and whoever else is set to cameo in the film, well, sit tight. Remember that you’ve got a whole year till the movie actually comes out next Summer, so chances are that you’ll be getting a few more trailers between now and then.

Quite frankly, I’m shocked we saw anything before Comic Con in July. We’ll have more on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as it’s released.
