Here’s that Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay footage, if you missed out

Debuting at the Summer Game Show yesterday, NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat reboot is looking incredible in this first real gameplay footage.

Was that Stryker?!

Yes, you’ll see the oft maligned MK3 album in the gameplay video below, but also a heck of a lot more. The footage goes deep into not only what looks to be several stories that’ll play out across MK1, but also the character roster, Kameo Fighters (that’s where Stryker comes in), and of course the completely ridiculous Fatalities.

If you like everything that makes Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat, you’re gonna have fun watching this one.

Warner Bros. Games today revealed the first gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the latest installment in the acclaimed videogame franchise by award-winning NetherRealm Studios. The video showcases the dynamic in-game action through a variety of characters and bone-krushing kombat, while also spotlighting the new Kameo Fighter system which brings a unique roster of characters into the mix to assist during matches – all set against the backdrop of an original track entitled “Fatal (Mortal Kombat 1)” by Grammy-nominated artist ZHU.

Warner Bros Games press release

If you’re keeping track, the game officially now has new versions of Liu Kang, Mileena, Kitana, Scorpion and Sub-Zero (now bothers in the Lin Kuei!), Raiden, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, and Kenshi Takahashi. And that’s not counting the supporting fighters under the “Kameo” designation, which includes classic versions of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Kano, Goro, Kung Lao, Stryker, and Jax.

As you might’ve noticed too, calling them into a fight not only results in some flashy combos, but they can also pull off “Fatal Blows, brutal Fatalities, and defensive Breakers.” Pretty neat.

Mortal Kombat 1 îs unleashed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on September 19th, 2023.
