Splatoon Raiders arrives in this week’s Nintendo Download

It’s a big week for Switch fans, as Splatoon Raiders arrives, but Nintendo’s latest isn’t alone. There are plenty more titles arriving too.

Splatoon is back, in a whole new way

Does Splatoon work as a single player experience? The series has typically been presented as a PvP shooter, though Splatoon Raiders significantly changes that formula up. Instead of blasting other players with ink, this new nautical-themed action game sets fans against a horde of foes. Though, there’s also a co-op mode, so if you still want to game with pals, you can.

Players will travel the Spirhalite Islands on their quest, as they team with a group of musicians called Deep Cut. Yes, musicians. And from that, it certainly seems as though the Splatoon charm is intact. Customization is a theme here too, with what sounds like plentiful options, including when it comes to gadgets and “ink-splattering weapons”. You’ll definitely need those too, if you intend to take on the Salmonids.

Aside from Splatoon Raiders, there’s a decent amount of additional releases this week as well. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster arrives for the Switch 2, while Disgaea Mayhem arrives for both Switch consoles.   • Splatoon Raiders – In this single-player-focused action game, you’ll play as a mechanic working with Deep Cut – a trio of swashbuckling musicians – and venture out into the mysterious Spirhalite Islands! Customize your character, kit yourself out with mechanical gadgets and ink-splattering weapons, and take on waves of enemy Salmonids as you raid the islands for treasure. It’s not just you out there, though. One member of Deep Cut will raid alongside you in a powerful bot. You can also join with up to three other players online¹or via local wireless²! The Splatoon Raiders game is available now on the Nintendo Switch 2 system.
