G’AIM’E brings Time Crisis light gun system to the US

Did you hear? Light guns are back. That’s thanks to G’AIM’E‘s mini-console, which houses Time Crisis and more.

G’AIM’E Time Crisis

If you were playing video games back in the 1990s, then you probably tried your hand at more than one light gun shooter. A lost art in the present age, light gun games were all over the place back then, and had a simple (but pretty darn fun) premise.

That, as you can probably infer, was to blast away at your TV screen with a plastic light gun. The games were on rails, but delivered a ton of action by typically throwing piles of blastable foes at players. And some even had more immersive mechanics, like taking cover.

As televisions changed however, the genre couldn’t keep up. The technology, as it was, became wholly nonfunctional on modern TV’s, and so games like Time Crisis were left to the dustbin of history. Or were they? Hold that thought, because a new company called G’AIM’E has brought that same classic arcade action back for the current age.

Already launched in other markets, G’AIM’E‘s new hardware consists of a mini-console plus one light gun and a foot pedal. There’s also a second version that includes two guns, for two player action. And yes, these light guns will work on modern TV’s.

That’s accomplished by a reported “A.I. driven camera technology”. This tech is actually not in the console, but housed in the guns. And with that, G’AIM’E says that the units will work on “modern displays of all shapes and sizes”.

As for those games, the aforementioned Time Crisis headlines, but it’s not alone. Point Blank and Steel Gunner 1 and 2 are all included as well. So fans of the classic shooter style will have a four pack of games to play, if they pick one of these bad boys up.

Speaking of, we did mention that G’AIM’E‘s offerings are now ready for sale in the US. If you’d like to add one to your collection, you can do so via either Amazon or Best Buy, as of… right now.
