A satirical, feel-good comedy, Dark Horse rings in Christmas 365 this Holiday Season

A little bit of the old ‘Christmas in July’? Well, kinda/sorta, as this new Dark Horse announcement is for a Holiday-themed mini-series.

Where Christmas never ends

Did you ever get a case of the post-Christmas sads? If you’re one of the millions of people who celebrate the ancient holiday, chances are that you have at some point. It’s kind of a yearly thing for kids especially, at least it was for us. After all, it’s a bummer when all the gifts have been opened, the dinner has been eaten, the stockings have been rifled though, and school restarting looms ever larger.

But what if Christmas didn’t necessarily have to end? At least, not in the traditional sense? That’s the plot of Dark Horse Comics’ latest announcement, Christmas 356. From the creative team of Mikey Way, Jonathan Rivera, and Piotr Kowalski, the first issue of Christmas 365 will arrive just in time for the big holiday, and tell the tale of a family who’s been going through some rough times, only to find that the solution might be a year’s worth of the happiest of holidays.

The holidays weren’t always so tough for Peter Rockwell and his family, but a tragic and challenging year finds them stressed out and drifting apart when they should be pulling together. After accepting the wisdom of a Santa Claus at his local mall, Peter hatches a plan to give his family the best year ever, one Christmas at a time!

“Like most kids growing up, I never wanted Christmas to end,” said Way. “When it’s over, you’re left having to wait an entire year for that magical feeling to return. I would often fantasize…what if it never had to end? That very thought was what sparked this story. But as the saying goes, is too much of a good thing not so good?”

Christmas 365 is a satirical comedy about finding balance,” added Rivera. “It’s about pursuing your dreams without giving in to the temptation of a world that wants more and more of us each day, and learning the difference between what we want and what we need.  This book is also our love letter to all of the surreal suburban comedies we loved as kids like ‘Better Off Dead’ and ‘The ‘Burbs.’”

Dark Horse Comics press release

Christmas 365 #1 (of 4) will arrive in stores on December 4th, 2024. If you’re in San Diego this week for Comic Con though, you night want to stop by the Dark Horse booth (#2615). Way and Rivera will be on hand this Saturday, from 5-6:30pm (pacific time) to promote the upcoming title, and sign some stuff.

Just be forewarned, as this won’t be an ‘open’ autograph session, and you will need to secure a wristband if you want to get in on the fun.
