If you thought you knew everything there is to know about the Halo remake, think again. The XBOX Showcase debuted some fresh news.
Cue that Halo chorus
Launching this summer, Halo: Campaign Evolved looked like a pretty simple proposition. The title remakes the original game in the now legendary first-person shooter series. It’s with that, it’ll also be the first Halo title to appear on PlayStation. Simple enough, right? Well, hang onto that thought, because it looks like there’s a heck of a lot more to the game.
That fresh news came via a new trailer dropped for the game at the XBOX Showcase yesterday. And that little video offered up some previously unknown elements. First of all, and maybe the biggest news, is that there are a trio of new missions called Operation: Meteorite. Set one year before the original game, these new levels look like they’ll offer plenty of action too.
For one thing, there’ll apparently be space-based fighter missions. It also looks like those will plunk players into a Covenant craft. Bigger news? Yeah, the Brutes are in. As any Halo fan could tell you, they were absent from that original game, but they’re present and accounted for now. Not only that, but they come complete with something totally new. From the looks of it, players will be able to use some kind of device to turn the behemoths against their allies. That should be interesting.
Those are some chunky new elements, but they all came in addition to the fact that the game is looking stellar overall. The graphics are flat out stunning. And if they’re any indication for the future of the series, we’re more than a little looking forward to it.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is heading to the XBOX Series X|S and XBOX PC, as an XBOX Play Anywhere title. It’ll also be included as a Day One play for Game Pass subscribers. As mentioned too, it’ll be the first (and possibly last at this point) Halo game to be playable on a PlayStation console, and will appear on the PS5.
As to when all of the above will happen, look for Halo: Campaign Evolved to launch on July 23rd, 2026.
