Gears of War: E-Day revs up with a new trailer

Marcus and Dom are back. Fire up those Lancers, as the now XBOX-exclusive Gears of War: E-Day has a new, action-packed trailer.

E-Day

Pretty far and away, Gears of War: E-Day was the centerpiece of Microsoft’s XBOX Showcase yesterday. The upcoming action title had a lengthy look at its action, that took place right after the main show. And if you’re unaware somehow, it’s heading back to the titular E-Day. That means the origins of the original appearance of the Locust. And as fans know by now, it also means Marcus and Dom are back in action.

But while that was a well known quantity, yesterday’s show revealed a bit more. For one thing, there’s a new (old) team to get to know, along with a world that feels a little more grounded than it has. At least, it felt that way for us. While the ongoing Gears series takes place in a world that’s already shattered by war, E-Day sees it while the Locust are taking a sledgehammer to it.

That means that some of the settings, at least in this first look, are much more ‘everyday’. Marcus and his team fight their way through, for example, a retail store. Likewise, there are police cars all over the place, elevated trains are still running (sort of), and the starting quartet is decked out in street clothes. Though we imagine that last point won’t last too long, before the COG armor shows up.

All in all, the XBOX Series X|S console exclusive is looking sharp. Oh yeah, that’s another big point from the show, as exclusives are very much back in play for XBOX fans. And the first of the renewed push? You bet, that’d be Gears of War: E-Day.

From Xbox Game Studios, and developers The Coalition and People Can Fly, Gears of War: E-Day launches for the XBOX Series X|S and PC on October 6th, 2026. The action title will also be included with Game Pass Ultimate as a Day One release, and will be a part of XBOX Play Anywhere.

A massive Collector’s edition, and an Open Beta

Along with the base version of Gears of War: E-Day, there’ll also be Collector’s Editions emerging for both the XBOX Series X|S and Steam (for the PC) versions. That’s set to include quite a bit, including an impressive 15″ diorama statue, replica COG tags, a SteelBook, and much more. You’ll also get a five day head start on playing, as the CE launches on October 1st, 2026.

And while the Steam version will include a download code, the Xbox edition will indeed stock a physical disc. Yes, unlike in some recent CE’s, you do get a copy of the game in this one. As for ordering, the Gears of War: E-Day Collector’s Edition is an XBOX Game Studios shop exclusive. So if you want to grab a copy for your own collection, you’ll have to head over there.

Along with the CE, there’s also a Premium Edition of the game coming up. That’ll be digital only, and include a host of additional (digital) content. Much like the Collector’s Edition too, the Premium Edition will get you playing five days early.

As for that Beta we mentioned above, that’s coming up on August 6th. The exact timing has yet to be revealed, but there’s a pretty easy way of getting into it. Did you guess that said way was placing a pre-order? Yeah, if you did, then you’d be right. Physical edition pre-orders will require a download code to get into the Beta, while digital buyers will gain automatic entry.
