It still doesn’t seem real, but the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is inbound for Gamescom.
Expanded Witcher
Geralt is coming back for more, for an expansion that was a complete shock to pretty much everyone. Announced a short time ago, said DLC is Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And yes, that’s a base game that first launched in 2015.
Nevertheless, Songs of the Past is already hotly anticipated. It’s easy to see why too, since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still widely recognized as one of the greatest action/RPG’s of all time. And frankly, this upcoming DLC might be the last time fans will see Gerald in action, before he gives way to Ciri in The Witcher 4.
Unfortunately though, as of now we don’t really know much of anything about that fresh content. Though, that said, we’re going to go ahead and assume that dearth of news is about to change.
Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It adds a new chapter to The Witcher 3, a game that has sold more than 65 million copies since its release in 2015 and is the winner of more than 250 Game of the Year awards and 1,000 industry awards.

Heading to Gamescom
As you can see, CD Projekt Red has revealed that Song of the Past will be making its way to Gamescom. The expansion pack will appear on the European gaming show’s floor. But it also sounds like it’ll be a part of Opening Night Live. The opening moments of the event, Opening Night Live is hosted by Geoff Keighley. And if Songs of the Past will be present for it, we’re thinking that it just might steal the spotlight.
Along with that, and as mentioned, there’ll also be showcase opportunities for the DLC. Some of those will be held in the business area, though there’ll also be some in the entertainment area, with the latter being held in booths B030 and A031 in Hall 8.1, from August 26th through the 30th.
So if you’re going to Gamescom 2026, you’ll have a chance to check Songs of the Past out in person. And if not? Well, we’ll look to have any further information for you right here, as it’s released.
