One of the biggest names in football is coming to Prime Video, with Nic Cage starring as a true sports legend in MADDEN.
Nicholas Cage is Madden
We have to admit, it was pretty hard for us to picture actor Nic Cage as John Madden. One look at the teaser for the upcoming film though, and we’re sorry we doubted the decision. Said “look” came across this week by the way, as Amazon MGM Studios finally took the wraps off of the film.
As a result, we’ve got the (surprising) format and launch date for MADDEN, directed by David O. Russell. Before we talk release info though, there’s that teaser to check out. No, it’s not a full trailer, but it does give a glimpse or two of Cage as the title character, and he’s pretty spot on.
Accompanying that first-look is the actor, who appears out of makeup/costume, to chat about the former coach and broadcaster. If you love the NFL, or are fan of the coach, it’s a pretty fun watch. Since Cage is featured in the video too, the difference between him and his take on MADDEN is on full display. To put it mildly, it’s pretty startling.

What’d you think? After that early look, we’re actually looking forward to checking out MADDEN, which actually isn’t all that far off. Also starring Christian Bale, Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, John Mulaney, and Shane Gillis, the film will open on November 18th. Hang on though, because we’re not talking about a theatrical presentation. MADDEN is heading right to streaming instead, and will debut via Prime Video.
