Eric Powell’s classic title The Goon is not hew ay back to stores. Fans can look for reprinted Library Editions, starting Spring ’27.
Action, horror, and general weirdness? It’s The Goon
The Goon has become a part of comic book history at this point. The main run(s) wrapped up several years back after all, and creator Eric Powell looks to have retired the hard-hitting character and his world. But that doesn’t mean that the property is disappearing any time soon.
Not even close actually, as Dark Horse Books and Albatross Books have a fresh run of 7 x 10″ deluxe hardcovers in the works. Those look to be the perfect jumping on point, for those who might be interested in checking out Powell’s horror-tinged hero. For that matter, they’d probably be pretty sharp for longtime fans as well, who might be on the hunt for some bundled tales for their bookshelves.

The revival starts with March 2027, with The Goon Library Edition Volume 1 (Second Edition). That’ll bring together volumes 0 through 3 of the classic comic series, telling the tale of the Zombie Priest. As for the creative team behind it, it’s classic The Goon. And by that, we mean a heck of a lot of Eric Powell.
For those who might not know, the series’ creator is both artist and writer for it.
The Nameless Man, the Zombie Priest, has come to town to build a gang from the undead. Yet even with an unlimited supply of soldiers, the Priest cannot move in on the territory controlled by the crime boss Labrazio and his unstoppable enforcer—the Goon. But when the Priest discovers the Goon’s most closely held secret, the balance of power threatens to change forever!
Volume 1 collects The Goon Volumes 0–3.
Dark Horse press release
Presented in hardcover format, The Goon Library Edition Volume 1 (Second Edition) is just the start. Fans can look for volumes 2 through 5 to arrive after that first re-issuance lands. The run will take the books through 2028, but don’t look for dates just yet. It’s a shade too early for those, but we’ll keep you updated.
