Sony to Close PlayStation Mobile By September

PlayStation Mobile was part of a larger plan for cross-platform gaming with the PS Vita and Android devices; however, this synergistic dream is coming to an end later this year. Sony announced that come July 15th, it will no longer publish PS Mobile content and on September 10th the site will no longer exist and libraries inaccessible. This is not much of a shock considering Sony stop publishing Android games for PS Mobile last year. The closure will not affect non-Android Vita games, so rest easy Vita fans.

Turns out that Android needs to put more time and energy into mobile gaming before a platform like PS Mobile will be successful. It is unfortunate for the Vita because this could have been an entrance for developers to create more games exclusively for the handheld console. Did you guys use PlayStation Mobile? If so, any games you’re going to miss? Let us know in the comments below! Or tweet them to me @lmrome3
