Off-roading heading for Meta Quest, with Mudrunner VR

The long-running off-road series is coming to virtual reality, as Mudrunner VR is coming to Meta Quest headsets sometime soon.

Don’t get your headset dirty though

Want to get into the cab for some up close and personal mudding? Mudrunner VR, Saber Interactive’s long-lived driving series leaps, will be offering just that as it heads to Meta Quest platforms this year. From the looks of the first trailer too, it’s set to offer a play experience that really no other game has.

Mudrunner fans can look for eight heavy-duty vehicles to drive, complete with mission-specific equipment to manage and challenging conditions. Players will engage with all of that as though they’re there in person too. In true ‘VR’ fashion, fans will have to actually hop out of vehicles, walk to hitches and fueling points, and get tasks completed.

Just like the real thing, only virtual.

Drive eight mighty all-terrain vehicles, each with its own characteristics and attachable equipment, as you explore immense environments with total immersion in Story Mode and Free Play Mode. Complete a combination of objectives and deliveries while enduring extreme conditions across wild, untamed landscapes. Overcome muddy terrain, flowing rivers, and other obstacles that react realistically to the weight and movement of your vehicle. Let nothing stand in your way!

Saber Interactive press release

Though the above looks pretty rough and tumble, Saber Interactive says that Mudrunner VR is being made to cater to both “long-time series fans and newcomers alike”. It’s also being made purely with the Meta Quest line of headsets in mind, so this is not a port of any previous Mudrunner title.

There’s no release date just yet for Mudrunner VR, though again Saber says that it’s coming soon. When it does launch, fans will be able to pick up a copy for the Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, and Meta Quest Pro.
