Lovecrafty shooter Beneath makes an appearance for Steam’s Lovecraftian Days

Coming to PC from Wired Productions and developer Camel 101, Beneath adds an all-out action punch to Cthulhu madness.

Time to fight some squid

We’ve covered many a Lovecraft-inspired game here on BG that’s leaned heavily into the powerlessness that the theme’s Eldritch horrors can inspire. There’ve been a few too that trod the line, delivering scares and combat in fairly equal measure. However there’ve been none that we can remember, that’ve dealt out what Wired Productions and Camel 101 are preparing with Beneath.

The game, in the works for the PC, has just made its first real appearance at Lovecraftian Days Steam Fest (April 14th through the 21st), and it’s looking absolutely action-packed. Yes there certainly seem to be some creep-outs, it wouldn’t be “Lovecraftian” if there weren’t, but Beneath is also going to turn the tables a little, thanks to a survival horror bent that’ll have players taking the fight to the old ones.

Following the success of psychological thriller Those Who Remain in 2019, Beneath marks a renewed collaboration between Wired Productions and Camel 101. Drawing inspiration from iconic titles such as F.E.A.R., Resident Evil, and Half-LifeBeneath promises to deliver a gripping blend of action, psychological tension, and atmospheric storytelling.

Beneath will be coming soon to PC. Stay tuned for more updates via the official Discord and Wired site.

Wired Productions press release

There’s no release date as of yet for Beneath, but we do know that a “Closed monthly playtest” will be kicking off for the game, next month. Prospective players will be able to go hands-on with the shooter then, plus find “a chance to shape the future of the game”, according to Wired Productions.

Look for that to begin on May 15th, and you can find the sign-up page here.
