Turbo Overkill closes in on full retail launch with “The Final Episode”

Apogee and Trigger Happy Entertainment’s blazing fast, retro shooter Turbo Overkill is going final, but there are a few more surprises first.

Final final

Turbo Overkill isn’t going down without a fight. And it’s going to be a massive fight at that, as the retro shooter has debuted its third episode, which is so huge it’s going to be a two-parter.

Episode 3 brings in even more augments, to make hero Johnny Turbo more machine than man, new enemies, new locations (like outer space), and the beginning of the end of the cyberpunk FPS’ saga.

The neon-lit dystopia known as Paradise has been overrun by Syn, an all-seeing artificial intelligence dead-set on destruction. Take control of Johnny Turbo as he embarks on a gun-laden, chainsaw-tastic quest to purge his planet of Syn’s scourge of an intense, white-knuckle journey toward the epic conclusion of Turbo Overkill.

The Final Episode, Part 1 kicks destruction into overdrive with five new Syn-enhanced, ability-boosting augments: paint the town red with dual chainsaw arms, and rev up fresh carnage with the addition of a second chainsaw leg. Rain down street-cleansing firepower from new heights with the addition of triple jump and wall slides, and fast-travel with Syntech portals for quick long-distance warping.

Team17 press release

In addition to the above, Turbo Overkill’s third episode sports a musical score from some serious film and video game musical talents. Those include the likes of “Tim Stoney (Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi – Trailer theme), Assassins Creed: Origins – Trailer theme), and Nikola Jeremic (Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2), and Chipper Hammond (Disney Shanghai Parade, Arranger) complimented by the legendary “Blaster Beam” instrument performed by Craig Huxley”. It’s also got fresh villainy, including clones of Johnny’s arch nemesis Maw, who’ll be voiced by Gianna Matragrano.

Turbo Overkill: The Final Episode, Part 1 is indeed out now, though the games as a whole is still in Early Access. That’ll be coming to an end on July 18th, when the saga comes to a close.
