Street Fighter 6 launches today, complete with companion site and more

Capcom is going all out for the launch of the acclaimed Street Fighter 6, and that includes a “companion website”, cosmetic DLC, and more on the way.

Kung-fu fighting continues

Yes, there are a few big name fighting games arriving here in 2023. But they’re going to have to be pretty special to reach the levels of acclaim that Street Fighter 6 already has.

If you haven’t heard, the game has gobbled up critical praise, and has fight-fans champing at the bit to get into it. While reaction has been out there for a few days, the game finally hits retail today, with publisher Capcom set to support the heck out of it.

That’ll come in a few different ways, though the biggest is what sounds like a Resident Evil-like website. Dubbed Buckler’s Boot Camp, it’s there that players will be able to dig into “stats, leaderboard placements, and club memberships”, plus check out stuff like each fighter’s moves.

Buckler’s Boot Camp: This Street Fighter 6 companion website is packed with features for players to enjoy the game even more. Players can check out their own and opponents’ stats, leaderboard placements, and club memberships.* Players can review a list of commands for each character’s moves, browse through their costumes, and learn directly from the game developers through useful tips for playing the game. Players can also find information on in-game events, rewards, and other updates. Finally, when players need a break from fighting, they can play the new minigame called Pockest and train cute pixel-art characters to develop them into Capcom Fighting Characters.

Wanna talk DLC?

No? Well, too bad, because it’s the second half of this story. And it’s not exactly what you’re (probably) thinking either, as SF6 has a bunch of free stuff available right away to grab.

Free Onitsuka Tiger In-Game Items: Capcom is collaborating with Onitsuka Tiger to provide four free in-game items – two t-shirts and two sneakers – for players’ custom avatars! Go into the Battle Hub, check your messages and grab the free items before July 3 to show off your custom avatar moves in style!

See? Not so bad. And according to Capcom, there’s more to come. Both free and “premium” downloadables will be available via the Fighting Pass system. Again according to the company, fans will be able to grab a mix of the above, spread out across “exciting avatar gear, emotes, music tracks, stickers, titles, in-game wallpapers, photo borders, and classic Capcom arcade games to play in Battle Hub.**”

So all in all, there’s a ton of Street Fighter 6 both out now and coming up. As for the base game though, you can grab a copy as of today, for the Xbox and PlayStation platforms, and PC.

*Note: To view game-linked content, players must use the online content of Street Fighter 6 and register for Buckler’s Boot Camp.
**Note: Avatar gear earned through the Fighting Pass will only affect the appearance of the avatar and not impact player attributes.
