Legacy of Kain: Defiance returns with physical editions

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is setting up to hit retail. The remaster of the classic action title will get a pair of editions.

Well, kind of in defiance of digital. Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is, after all, already available in that format. It has been for a while too, as Crystal Dynamics and co-developer PlayEveryWare brought the game back for modern consoles and the PC earlier this year.

That release presented what the developers call the “definitive version of 2003’s gripping dark fantasy adventure”. Naturally, that meant some upgrades. And to that end, Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered included a graphical boost, as well as a revised camera.

That’s not all though, as the title also came packing “extensive bonus content”. There fans would find a photo mode, along with a selection of ‘lost levels’ from the legacy release. So not only did Kain fans get a re-presentation of the classic series-capper, but a bit more than they’ve seen before.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is the definitive version of 2003’s gripping dark fantasy adventure, revamped for modern platforms with new graphics upgrades, an improved camera, and extensive bonus content such as a photo mode and ‘lost levels’ from the original game. Return to the world of Nosgoth as you control both the vampire Kain and his betrayed lieutenant, Raziel, two mighty beings bound by the conflict between fate and free will.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is out now, in digital form, for the PS5, Switch, XBOX Series X, Xbox One, and PC. Again though, there’s a pair of physical releases on the horizon for those who might want to add a copy to their IRL shelf.

The vampiric epic gets physical

Not one, but two versions of Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered are on the way to retail shelves. And of course, that selection starts out with the Standard Edition. Landing for all of the above mentioned consoles (no PC, obviously), will be the main game on a disc for $29.99 USD. But if you want more out of the experience, you might want to check out the Deluxe Edition.

The upgraded version of the game makes the leap to physical format in intact form. Fans who buy in at that level will get the game itself, plus “a digital comic book reader with three classic comics, and a demo of the unreleased sixth game in the series: Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy“. That’s all apparently on the disc too. Pretty cool.

On top of that, the Deluxe Edition also includes a steelbook case, and some impressive bonuses. Right there with what we just detailed, will be the official soundtrack (on a separate disc!), and an 80 page art book that sounds loaded. According to Crystal Dynamics, it’ll showcase “sketches, concept art, models, and more”.

As for when both editions will arrive in stores, that’d be November the 13th (2026). And yes, pre-orders are open now.
