“Merciless movement shooter” Sprawl arrives on consoles today

Formerly only available via the PC, Rogue Games and developer MAETH’s Sprawl has officially arrived for Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

Sprawling out

You might’ve missed Sprawl when it hit the PC in summer of 2023, and if you did, you missed one of the more interesting FPS’ in recent years. The title looked great, with semi-retro visuals and cyberpunk imagery that was paired with all-out, movement shooter action.

Cast as a super-soldier named SEVEN, players had to make use of cyber-implants to pull off insane super-heroic moves and take out foes in every way possible. By doing things like wall-running, raining down hot-lead from above, and even slowing down time, SEVEN had to rush through waves of enemies on a mission of redemption.

On the streets of this megalopolis, every shootout in SPRAWL is a high-speed game of combat chess. Use the SEVEN’s icarus implant to calculate every headshot and determine when to use the powerhouse shotgun to jump out of range. Perfectly time every wallrunning maneuver to decapitate in midair, blast off skulls with a quick trigger pull, or slice operatives into pieces.

Think fast and adapt to survive a variety of enemy types like rapid-fire SMG elites, charging riot guards, and mechanical dogs. Solve each combat encounter creatively to reap different rewards like increased ammo drops, health boosts, and bullet time meter refills. SEVEN’s path to the SPIRE will be paved with blood. In the tyrannical world order of SPRAWL, no one says redemption is easy.

Rogue Games press release

Like what you see? If you’re a first-person shooter fan, it’s kind of hard not to. Thankfully for console players too, Sprawl has now expanded from the PC and onto new-gen consoles. Would-be fans can grab a copy by way for either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X|S today, November 21st, 2024.
