Next fighter and new story content revealed for Tekken 8

Tekken 8 is set to roll on post-launch, with the just-detailed DLC roadmap. Expect more fighters and even more story content.

New era

Released earlier this year, Tekken 8 has seemed to mostly deliver for fans of the long-running fight series. Bandai Namco’s latest has garnered acclaim in both the press and from fans… that’s to say that it has outside of the in-game shop. That one didn’t go over so well. But be that as it may, the Mishima saga is set to push ever onward, with both free and paid content that’ll hopefully wash the micro-transaction taste away.

As to the latter, we just saw the release of a playable Eddy Gordo, but there’s even more coming, as was revealed today. The announcements came by way of a special showcase at the fighting expo that is Evo Japan, where the wraps were taken off of another new fighter, plus new modes and more.

The publisher announced that Lidia Sobieski will be next up, and noted that there’s yet more story to be told. Yes, Tekken 8’s post-launch looks like it’ll be expanding on the tale of the Mishima’s, and from the looks of it, Eddy Gordo too.

While there’s no word yet as to the arrival of any of the above, you’ll notice that Lidia and the story expansion are just part of what Bandai Namco has on tap. Fans can look for Tekken 8 to get a new stage (Seaside Resort) and a new Photo Mode, with both landing this summer. And unlike with the character packs, both of those new inclusions will be free for all owners of Tekken 8. There’s even more, although it’s a bit further out, as the Tekken faithful can also expect both Ghost vs Ghost and Online Practice modes to be making their way to the game.

All that is in addition to tourney season, as Tekken 8 takes its leave of Evo and will be making its way to the Tekken World Tour. That happening will challenge players across the world to compete for points and earn a place at the finals. You can probably guess what’ll be taking place there, as the winner will be crowned the King of Iron Fist.
