Dakar Desert Rally’s fall ’23 update brings editor and more

Get ready to hit the road (kinda) once again, with Dakar Desert Rally’s expansive “Fall 2023” update, and some new DLC.

Return to open world racing

Saber Interactive’s Desert Dakar Rally is going off-road again, this time for both a Fall 2023 update and some fresh (paid) DLC packs. But before you start thinking about the latter, take a look at what the free new content drop adds in, because it’s actually pretty chunky.

Officially “Patch 2.0”, the fall 2023 update brings something that fans have been asking for, according to Saber, in the form of the custom roadbook editor. That’s exactly what it sounds like, delivering the ability for players to make both their own stages and events. As is pretty common these days too, once those stages and events are made, they can be shared online with others.

That’s not all that’s included either, as fans can also look for a “range of overall game enhancements and fixes, including a new free replay and photo mode”.

Dakar Desert Rally captures the genuine scale and thrill of one of the world’s most challenging off-road events across over 20,000 square kilometers of diverse terrain with dynamic weather. Choose from some of the sport’s most renowned racing teams and build up your garage with a long line of cars, bikes, trucks, quads and SSVs from the world’s top manufacturers. Forge your path to victory across a variety of game modes, including an arcade-style Sport mode for quick pick-up-and-play action, Professional and Simulation modes for a true rally experience, and online multiplayer for up to four players for the ultimate competitive challenge.

But wait, there’s more as the free stuff also includes a formerly-paid set of vehicle packs. Fans can grab a download of the Audi RS Q e-tron and the SnowRunner Cars Pack DLC right now. The Snowrunner pack is pretty packed too, and includes the TUZ 166, DON 71, KHAN 39, KHAN 317, and KHAN L04F.

As for the paid DLC, those are of course in the season pass and also available a’la carte, and include the Hybrid Vehicle Pack and Classics Vehicle Pack #2. Keep scrolling to see how the packs break down.

  • DLC – Hybrid Vehicle Pack: Embrace the green initiative and renewable energy with Dakar’s new hybrid future car and trucks – the GCK Motorsport, Hino 600 Hybrid and Riwald Renault C460.
  • DLC – Classics Vehicle Pack #2: Jump into the driver’s seat of these iconic vintage vehicles from 1982 and 1985 – the Lada Niva 1600 4×4 and Honda Africa Twin.

Saber Interactive press release

All of the above should be out now for owners of all versions of Dakar Desert Rally, which is out for the PC, and Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
