And just lie that, the supernatural side of Valiant’s superhero universe gets a little bigger. Featured in Shadowman last year and just hitting her stride in the first issue of her stand-alone mini-series next month, the good Doctor is truly something different in a universe of, well, different characters. Since its revival, Valiant has made a point of having all of their characters break molds and be unique, Doctor Mirage is no different in that respect.

How she is outside the norm though is that she’s the first solo female hero in Valiant’s stable and that her story has a very supernatural theme, one that even the more suprehero-y Shadowman doesn’t. Jen Van Meter brings that eerie story of love lost to life, while Roberto De La Torre’s incredibly atmospheric and dark visuals tell the tale visually. So far, it seems like the pair are pure gold, with advanced praise reaching some impressive heights.
