Collectible maker Diamond Select Toys has a horror-tastic set of offerings in your local comics shop and specialty stores this week.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen some cool collectibles based on Brian Pulido’s “first lady of the underworld”, but this one may have been worth the wait. This Halloween-themed Lady Death statue is made of PVC and is actually based on the cover from the first issue of Lady Death: Rapture.
Femme Fatales Lady Death II PVC Statue
The first lady of the underworld is back from the dead! Brian Pulido’s iconic comic-book creation Lady Death returns for a second PVC statue in DST’s Femme Fatales line, and this time she’s holding a jack-o-lantern perfect for all those Halloween-loving horror hounds out there! Standing nine inches tall, Lady Death was sculpted by Sam Greenwell, based on Mike Debalfo’s cover to Lady Death: The Rapture #1, with art direction by Pulido. (SRP: $45.00)
As for the second item that shipped out to retailers this week, that’s a little more gruesome and a lot more ubiquitous. There doesn’t seem to be a week that goes by without a new The Walking Dead item hitting the shelves. The TV show and comic are both incredibly popular and the tide of collectibles and everything else that constantly flows into stores is a direct reflection of that.
This week we get one of Michonne’s ‘pet’ zombies cast as a bust/bank. True, you can store your change in this decomposing walker, but he also makes for a neat little bust for your horror shelf- maybe positioned next to your collection of TWD graphic novels?
Walking Dead Pet Zombie B&W Vinyl Bust Bank
DST’s popular line of The Walking Dead bust banks is adding another walker to its zombie horde! Based on one of Michonne’s chained walkers, this zombie measure 8 inches tall atop the hit comic book’s famous logo, and is crafted in durable vinyl with a slot in the back for your loose change. This new black-and-white edition captures the walker as he appears in the pages of The Walking Dead comic book with detailed sculpting by Eli Livingston. It’s not just a cool bank, it’s an amazing bust! (SRP: $22.99)
So there you have it, a retail week consisting of the queen of the damned and a walking corpse- Halloween is right around the corner…
