Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Edition Select mode brings back previous versions of characters

Did you like Sagat from plain-old vanilla Street Fighter IV? Well good news…

Can we safely say at this point that Street Fighter IV is the ‘most updated’ of Capcom’s games? The publisher seems to have a penchant for continually updating and refining the fourth installment of the fighting game, whose original release is widely credited with reinvigorating the genre.

As far as additions to the already outstanding base game go, Edition Select is pretty fantastic. If you didn’t pick up on it from the trailer above, Edition Select is basically the melding of all of the previous version’s character-types into Ultra’s fighting landscape. S if you liked the original version of Sagat or the Super version of Ryu, you can select them for play in Ultra.

Since the game has been refined so much, this gives players a chance to get back the actual builds of the characters that they might have used to dominate a previous installment of Street Fighter IV. Yes, that might seem minor to those of us who aren’t fighting fanatics, but to anyone who is, it’s pure gold.

Ultra Street Fighter IV lands on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this coming June and on the PC this August.
