It’s just waiting for a game to power…
Valve’s Gabe Newell faced a gaggle of fans on the 4chan the other day who confronted him about the long awaited engine. According to gaming site Joystiq, Newell basically said that the engine has been the focus of work for some time and that “We’ve (Valve- ed) just been waiting for a game to roll it out with.”
That’s some pretty exciting news right there for fans of a certain goatee’d, crowbar wielding scientist. Now before I lead you all into a stupor of unbridled excitement, Newell specifically went out of his way to tell the folks shooting questions at him not to ask about Half Life 3, but it had to be on the mind of anyone hearing about a new engine.
I know that’s where my mind goes at the company’s first mention of ‘new game’ (or ‘new engine’ for that matter). Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress are great and all, but fans (me included) have been clamoring for a new Half Life since the cliffhanger ending of episode 2 left players high and dry years ago.
So lets all cross our fingers and hope for a speedy return to cracking some Combine skulls.
