See how the new Black Flag shakes up the original

If you’ve been watching Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched, and you’re wondering what it brings to the table, Ubi has you covered.

Raise the new Black Flag

By now, you’ve likely seen a whole bunch of coverage as goes Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched. From what we’ve seen, the remake is looking pretty sharp, though we’re just talking visually. When it comes to the actual differences in play between it and the 2013 original though, well, there hasn’t really been much to go on.

So for those who’ve been wondering about some of the finer points, Ubisoft has release a fresh blog you’ll want to check out. The lengthy post is the third Deep Dive article, digging into some of the ways that the new game expands on what’s come before. That list runs from “missions and content” to “updated environment layouts and level design” and more. There’s actually a surprising amount to see.

A new world

To provide a quick rundown, things start off with a new end-game, starring iconic pirate Blackbeard. Somewhat tied in with that too, is a series of officer side-missions. A trio of those will be available to add to Edward’s crew, but you’ll have to find them first. Two new officers will be included within the main game, with one in the aforementioned end-game.

On top of that, there are new officer side-missions to play as well, and Animus Rifts to uncover. As for the missions from the core game, some of those have been altered as well. Ubisoft partially points to rebalancing being involved with that, which makes sense well enough. Changing up the formula for some mission-types to better fit with Resynched’s redesign seems like it’d be a given.

Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched will have a ‘skip time’ feature, and a massive overhaul to the Hideout. Located on Great Inagua, Edward’s base will be upgradable with new buildings as the game progresses. Those will grant bonuses too, so they’ll be potentially important.

The above is just a hint at what the full article reveals however. So if you’d like to scope the full piece, click here for the official site. And as for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched‘s release date, that’s coming up fast.

Look for it to arrive on July 9th, 2026, for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC (via Ubisoft, Steam, and Epic).
