Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched will set sail this summer, and its naval action takes the spotlight in the latest deep dive.
Taking to the high seas in Black Flag. Again.
Continuing to look pretty nice is Ubisoft’s remake of the original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. The piratical upcoming redux is ramping up into a summertime launch, but before it lands, there’s a deep dive that fans can check out that pertains to one of the biggest elements in the game.
And that, for those who might be unaware, is action on the high seas. While the game stars Edward Kenway in the title role of the spotlighted assassin, his ship is a character unto herself. The Jackdaw is the name of said vessel, and it’s a key location and more for the game’s action.
Yo ho!
For starters, the Jackdaw is a pirate ship. Being that pirating is Kenway’s actual profession, the craft is kind of important just at that. And you better believe that there will be combat, as the Jackdaw’s cannons will play into the action.
Not limited to iron-slingers, she also can be upgraded with a mortar called the Deadman’s Cohort. Add to that shrapnel attacks, and of course ramming, and you’ve got a formidable ship. All of this comes in handy while facing enemies on the waves, but also forts. Once those are worn down, Kenway and his men can disembark and lay siege to the landlubbers thereon. But even that’s not all.
On top of combat, the Jackdaw will serve as a launching pad for missions that require diving, which is something that players can now do anywhere. No, you don’t need a bell. Well, you don’t need one as long as the depths aren’t too deep, that is. If they’re out of Kenway’s range, you will still have to have access to a diving bell.

Not just battlin’
Along with all of the above, there are also sea shanties to sing, a captain’s cabin where the fleet can be managed (among other things), and plenty of weather to brave. Some of that appears quite rough too, so Edward might want to hang on.
Then there’s the straight up cruising. Ubisoft says that loading times are a thing of the past for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched, which means that players can sail the high seas to their heart’s content. Kind of a nice option to take in some sights between rounds with rivals and the royal navy. Thankfully too, there’s a pinning system for objectives, as well as an autopilot.
If you’re ready to hit the Caribbean during the golden age of pirates, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynched is heading to the PS5, XBOX Series XIS, and PC soon. Look for it to launch on July 9th, for all of the above platforms.
And if you’d like to read much, much more on all of the above in the meantime, head over to the official site. The full deep dive into the game’s naval mechanics is posted now.
