Hot on the heels of the Modern Warfare 4 reveal is a new video series, that’ll take fans behind the scenes on developer Infinity Ward.
Infinity Ward-fare
If you missed the big reveal late last week, then you might want to know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is official. The first-person shooter, launching this fall, looks like it’ll be revamping the series too. That could be a very good thing, as fans have been asking for CoD to head back to its roots. And by “back to its roots”, we mean grounded military action.
The game will kick off its action with all new characters, and will be set in South Korea. It’s there that North Korea and its new Supreme Leader launch an all out assault on its direct neighbor. And when that action begins, it’s “big war”, as the team at Infinity Ward calls it.
But while there’s a totally new theater of war, it’s not the only place in the world that will be included. Right along with it, will what looks to be a series of locales starring former Captain Price. Yes, former, as he’s now turned outlaw, if you were unaware. Naturally, working to create all of this and help the series re-center itself, is developer Infinity Ward.
Right there from the very beginning of Call of Duty, Infinity Ward is as long-standing of a developer as it gets for the IP. And to showcase what’s going into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, there’s a new developer video series to watch.
Publisher Activision has unleashed the first three episodes of the set, called From the Ward. And right there in the center spotlight for episode one, is the new campaign.
Catching up
While the above episode was released just a few days ago, Activision is moving fast with them. How fast? well, they’re already up to part three. And if you guessed that the followup video for the campaign-packed edition would be all about multiplayer, you’re on target. Part two of From the Ward digs into just that, talking “fluidity and control”, as well as “supporting player agency in every map and mode”.
Activision says that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be “the most responsive” title in the sub-series to date. While all of that’s great, we’re just hoping that it’ll be as grounded as the campaign looks to be. If Infinity Ward can manage that task, there might be a lot of lapsed players making their way back to CoD.
The artistry of war
All caught up? Good, because there’s still part three to check out. Past the narrative and the multiplayer, this third installment of From the Ward brings on the art team. In it, fans will be able to check in with Joel Emslie and the artistry behind this upcoming game.
There’s plenty of content included that shows just what goes into bringing characters and gear from rough sketches to the title itself. Not that that’s al though, as part three also includes a good deal of physical prop work.
Stay tuned for more of From the Ward, as we tumble ever forward, towards Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s launch. As for when that is, fans can look of 4th game to arrive on October 23rd for consoles and the PC.
