Trailer: Far Cry 5 on consoles gets an unexpected update, boosts all modes to 60fps

Yes, we’re well past Far Cry 6 at this point, but that isn’t stopping Ubisoft from diving back into FC5. If you’re still playing, you’re in for a treat.

Somebody gittin’ a shovelin’

Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world in rural Hope County, Montana, by a fanatical doomsday cult, players will need to join forces with residents to create a resistance and liberate the community and themself. Players will have to take to the skies in dogfights against cultists across Big Sky Country; destroy cult supplies with vehicles, explosives, and more; and recruit Guns for Hire from a large cast of characters, or even Fangs for Hire, specialized animals like bears and cougars to complement players’ playstyles whether they’re going in stealthily or forcefully. How players approach each situation and the chaos they create in Far Cry 5 is up to them.

Ubisoft press release

As you can see, FC5 has never looked better. The new boost will raise the max fps to 60, across all of the game’s modes, including “solo campaign, co-op, Arcade, and all downloadable content”. So if you’ve got a copy, you might want to get back in. And if you don’t have one, well then you’re in luck.

That’s because there’s a free weekend coming up, across all platforms, on March 23rd through the 27th. The free period will allow players to experience all of the game’s content, and will coincide with a huge deal as well. So if you play the ‘demo’, and you dig it, you’ll be able to grab a copy at a whopping 85% off.
