Gamescom 21: Marvel superheroes battle supernatural evil in Firaxis Games’ Midnight Suns

The Darkhold is in play, and Lilith is rising. The latest title to feature the Marvel’s heroes has been confirmed to be Midnight Suns.

Midnight in the garden

Longtime Marvel fans might be wondering why the title of this game is Midnight “Suns” and not Midnight “Sons”. Maybe the change in title works into the game’s narrative somehow? That’d be my guess since it doesn’t make much sense to change the title of the ’90s team otherwise.

But regardless of that, Midnight Suns is indeed coming, proving correct rumors that kicked up about a week ago. Also true, from that same batch of rumors, is that it’s from Firaxis and is a turn-based strategy title. How’s that for a unique Marvel-infused game?

It’s not just limited to supernatural heroes however, as there are a number of Marvel mainstays featured. In the trailer below, you’ll get a look at the likes of Iron Man and Wolverine, along with a brand new character called Hunter.

Here’s your first look:

Through a twisted marriage of magic and science, the nefarious force known as Hydra has revived Lilith, Mother of Demons, after centuries of slumber. Lilith will stop at nothing to complete an ancient prophecy and summon her evil master, Chthon. Pushed to the brink, the Avengers desperately look to fight fire with Hellfire by enlisting the help of the Midnight Suns – Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider – young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural, formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to fulfill. Together, they resurrect an ancient warrior – the Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.

2K Games

Midnight Suns is heading to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC for March 2022 release.
