Gamescom ’26: Get your first look at Crazy Taxi’s multiplayer

Time to blast through the city streets, as Gamescom saw Sega taking the wraps off of Crazy Taxi: World Tour‘s multiplayer mode.

So far, we’ve seen a decent amount of Sega‘s reinvented Crazy Taxi in action. The first new title in the line since 2002, the all-new Crazy Taxi: World Tour has looked like it might be shaping up nicely. At least, the single player mode has.

The multiplayer is another story, as we hadn’t seen a glimpse of it until it debuted at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show. Falling right in line with the aforementioned campaign though, the multiplayer action looks pretty darn fast, and packed with fares to grab. You might recognize the cabbies you’ll be able to play as too. Gena, B.D. Joe, and Gus will all be back to join the green-haired Axel in the modern era.

And if you’re wondering how that multiplayer will work, it’s fairly straightforward. It sounds like the city will open up for the mode, allowing players to have a shared experience with the game’s world. According to Sega, that’ll include the ability to “compete for passengers, battle for dominance of the streets, discover new shortcuts and create unforgettable moments of multiplayer Crazy Taxi chaos”.

Did you catch a returning tune in there? That’s right, Bad Religion’s “Ten in 2010” will be included, and it’s not the only track to be making a comeback. Sega says that a group of faves will be included for Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Those will include “All I Want” and “Change the World” by The Offspring, and “Them and Us” and “Inner Logic” by the mentioned-above rockers, Bad Religion.

Unfortunately, there’s no official release date yet for Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Stay tuned though, because it’ll be on the way some time in 2027. Look for it to hit the XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, Steam, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

On top of that, it’s also an XBOX Play Anywhere title. So it’s yet another addition to that lineup.

Testing

Don’t forget, while we’re talking about new trailers and multiplayer, that a Closed Network Test is coming up too. That’s set to land next month, and will be running from September 11th through the 13th. And if you’re keen to get in on it, you still have some time.

Remember that this is a closed test, so you’ll need to actually apply to take part. Fortunately, those applications are still open, and not set to close until August 31st (2026). Players who are selected will be able to try out the multiplayer modes that the game will offer. We assume that’ll include the above debuting one, though there’s no word on what might be onboard.
