Developer Pelikan 13’s sequel to The Takeover is coming up this fall, and has a first-look PC demo that’s out now for Steam Next Fest.
Takeover, take two
Released in 2019, The Takeover was an arcade-styled brawler that went a tad under the radar. In the age of the resurgent brawler, it might be easy to see why. After all, unlike some, it didn’t feature a big name license. Nevertheless, the game was apparantly a big enough hit that developer Pelikan 13 has prepped a sequel, one that’s inbound for the PC this fall.
Takeover 2 is that game, and it looks to up the ante considerably in terms of visuals. That’s not the only alteration though, as Pelikan 13 says that fans can look for loads more weapons to be included, and a redesigned combat system. That will be meant to offer up “tighter player control and game-changing tactical options”, according to the company.
Also according to the press release, weapons will come in handy when managing crowds of foes. That’s understandable enough, but you also have to consider the menagerie of foes that Takeover 2 will be throwing on screen. Those including an army of thugs of course, and uh… velociraptors.
Takeover 2 pushes arcade-style combat to the next level with mechanics designed to reward mastery and creativity. Players can expect to battle through waves of enemies while mastering: Combo chains, Parry mechanics, Special attacks, Finishing moves, Crowd control strategies and Perfect combo runs.
Whether players are looking to casually smash through enemies or perfect every encounter with flawless execution, Takeover 2 offers a combat system built for depth, replayability, and pure adrenaline.

Taking over this fall, demo launching now
How crazy does that trailer look? While the traditional side-scrolling beat ’em up action seems sharp by itself, players will also be piloting a jet in what Pelikan 13 calls a “bonus game”. That’d be Jet Fury, a game (mode?) that’ll feature a “survival experience”, and what sounds like classic arcade “score-chasing gameplay”. It’s also not the only alternate play experience that’ll be included.

Onboard too is Super Street Racer. And that’s exactly what it sounds like, sending players to the asphalt. The press release describes it as a “retro-inspired racing challenge where speed is everything — because if you’re not finishing first, you’re finishing last.”
The two bonus games above come in addition to Takeover 2‘s trio of core game modes. Those would be Arcade, Challenge, and Practice modes. Arcade is pretty self-explanitory, sending players though the game’s campaign, while Challenge mode is all about combat trials. As for Practice mode, that’ll have fans sharpening their skills.

As mentioned above too, Takeover 2 does have a demo out right now. Fans who have access to Steam on the PC can grab a copy, which is timed to coincide with the platform’s “Next Fest” event. If you’re unfamiliar, that celebrates future game releases.
Speaking of releases, those waiting for the full game’s launch, will have to hang on for this fall. That’s when Takeover 2 will be heading to the PC, for launch on September 10th, 2026. It looks like that launch might be exclsuively for Steam, but stay tuned.
