Rebel Wolves’ vampiric action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker gets a release date, along with a fresh look and behind-the-scenes.
They call him Dawnwalker
One of those themes that never seem to get too far away from the video game realm, vampires are back. Well, they’re coming back anyway, thanks to Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves’ The Blood of Dawnwalker. If you’ve been looking forward to the action role-playing game, then you just got a heck of a lot more to chew on.
That all came by way of a special event yesterday, one that debuted a brand new trailer. Much more than that though, is that there was also nearly an hour of gameplay and details revealed, in the deepest dive into the game than we’ve seen so far.
Before we get to that though, the trailer is looking sharp as a fang, giving a bit of a better look at the game’s narrative. If you don’t know the basics there, The Blood of Dawnwalker centers on Coen, a man living in medieval Europe.
Coen has been stricken with vampirism, and his city besieged. It seems a vampire lord has made his move, locking down the area, and dominating the human populace. Not one to take things as they are, Coen rises to fight back against the plague that’s turned him, and save his family.
Fortunately, he’s got a very particular mutation of sorts, allowing him to operate in daylight. The only catch? He’s human until it gets dark.
Fourteenth-century Europe is engulfed in chaos; bloody wars tear the continent apart, and the Black Death takes a deadly toll. This moment of weakness is seized by a clique of powerful vampires. The time of great change is coming … for everyone.
You play as Coen, a young man who has become a Dawnwalker, no longer human but not fully a vampire, sharing the strengths and weaknesses of both worlds.
Players follow Coen’s journey as he fights to save his family from Brencis, the vampire lord who rules his homeland, Vale Sangora, a mysterious region in the Carpathian Mountains. Along the way, he navigates uneasy alliances and dramatic confrontations, forging his own path in a world where every choice shapes both the story and the gameplay.
Bandai Namco press release
As you saw there in that trailer, the latest trailer was pretty packed. In it, Bandai Namco showed off some new characters, as well as fresh locations. The Blood of Dawnwalker will be an open world title, and it certainly looks as though there’ll be plenty of places to go and things to do.
Of blood and corruption
While the trailer is great looking, there was much more to see in this presentation. As mentioned, that additional information came by way of a showcase, diving into the PC edition of the game. And it’s a lengthily look too, standing at about an hour in length.
Members of the Rebel Wolves team themselves took players on that tour, in a look that was hosted by community lead Dominika Burza and Matthew “Lionheart” Ryan. All in all, it was a deep look at the game’s action, as well as the choices that players can make as Coen.
Since it’s a vampire-themed adventure, we’re sure you can guess at a few of those choices. But who to spare and who to feed on is just part of it. And in The Blood of Dawnwalker, “every action carries consequences”.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is heading to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S for release on September 3rd, 2026. In the meantime, you can check out a bit more about the game on the official site, here.
