A long-awaited science fiction tale of a “spacefarer” his android sidekick, and a doomed moon base, Pragmata arrives on consoles and PC.
Pragmata goes from the moon to the Earth
As a publisher Capcom is probably best known for its long-running series’. Okay, with the likes of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry in its stable, you can probably take out the “probably” from that statement. But that’s not to say the company is averse to trying new things either. And in a neat twist, its latest release hails from the same studio behind both of the aforementioned juggernauts.
The title in question would be Pragmata, a wholly original sci-fi tale centered on rogue AI. It has been pretty hotly anticipated for a while, and looks to tell the tale of one Hugh Williams. A spacefarer, according to Capcom, Hugh is sent to a moon base that’s gone dark, to see what the trouble might be.
When he gets there, he quickly learns that the artificial intelligence in charge has gone bad. It’s set to hunt the lone hero, via an army of dangerous bots, until he meets Diana. An android in the form of a little girl, Diana introduces what looks to be a father/daughter story dynamic. That’s not all though, as she’s also the centerpoint for what might be a fairly unique style of play.
By himself, Hugh can’t take down the game’s menagerie of mechanical horrors. Instead it’s up to Diana to hack said robo-creeps, exposing their vulnerabilities. Hugh can take it from there, blasting their foes to nuts and bolts.
“We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time,” said PRAGMATA producer Naoto Oyama. “The development team has been working passionately on this project for many years, and the community has been there every step of the way. It may have taken some time, but we feel we’ve created something truly unique and special for you. Thank you so much for your support. We’re so happy everyone can finally experience Hugh and Diana’s unforgettable adventure today.”

The story unfolds aboard a futuristic lunar station that has mysteriously lost contact with the Earth. Given the name Diana, she joins Hugh in exploring the lunar station in search of a way back to Earth.

Throughout their journey, Hugh and Diana are hunted by a hostile AI who controls the facility, and players must combine the unlikely duo’s unique abilities to survive the threats that await them. PRAGMATA features unique action-puzzle combat where Diana hacks enemy Bots to expose their weaknesses so Hugh can blast them with an arsenal of firearms. Between battles, the pair can enjoy the respite of the Shelter. In this safe haven, Hugh and Diana share heartwarming interactions and can trade collectable materials for upgrades to take on challenges like massive boss fights.
Fans ready to take on the world of Pragmata will find it available now for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The title comes in two varieties, with both base and Deluxe Editions available. The latter includes a fair shake of bonuses as well, including the Shelter Variety Pack. That’s stocked with “additional cosmetic outfits, a weapon skin, emotes, extra Shelter background music, and an in-game library of rare art”, according to Capcom.
