Nightdive’s System Shock remake is hitting consoles in May

A long-awaited game for the PC, the highly acclaimed System Shock remake is getting a console port to PlayStation and Xbox.

Shocking

Well, if you thought that the saga of the System Shock remake was over and done with since the PC game was released, you were wrong. Ages in development, said remake hit for the original game’s home platform last year, and to plenty of acclaim from both fans and critics.

Hang onto your hats though, because publisher PLAION has just revealed that the same title would be getting a console edition. That new port will see launch for both this and last generation Xbox’ and PlayStation’s, and it won’t be exactly the same game as last year’s.

According to the press release, the console port will sport both male and female heroes, an “expanded ending”, 4K support for current-gen consoles, and “more”.

Nightdive Studios’ stunningly faithful recreation of the classic shooter/immersive sim was released to critical acclaim in 2023 for PC. Soon, console players will go toe-to-toe with SHODAN — the original rogue AI with evil intent — on PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S as they explore the dark depths of Citadel Station and singlehandedly try and save Earth from destruction.
