With he game arriving this month, Tekken 8’s launch trailer hits hard

There are some big stakes to this new King of Iron Fist tournament, as a new world order dawns in Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8.

Yeah, this is heavy

While fans are used to massive and sweeping storylines in Tekken, the eighth installment of Bandai Namco’s fighting game series is pretty clearly the biggest yet. Featuring a cast of new and returning fighters, Tekken 8 sees Kazuya Mishima at his most powerful, swearing to wipe losers’ home countries from the face of the Earth.

A stiff penalty? Yeah pretty much, but remember this is Kazuya we’re talking about. Not the nicest guy in the world. And from the looks of things in this new launch trailer, he’s more power-mad than ever before, since his father is out of the way.

“The Dark Awakens” as the fiery Mishima-Kazama family feud now threatens to engulf the world in flames. Players will battle for personal glory – and the fate of humanity – in TEKKEN 8. The long-awaited sequel is bringing the franchise to new-gen with a thrilling new storyline and all the fighting game action players have come to expect in TEKKEN, with heart-pounding battles featuring all-new gameplay modes, completely remodeled characters, destructible environments, and a new “Aggressive” battle system that keeps the pace of combat at a high level.

Bandai Namco press release

Ready to rumble? This one’s for all the marbles (and then some), as Tekken 8 arrives for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 26th, 2024.
