Take a first-look at Apple TV+’s haunting 4 part doc, The Enfield Poltergeist

Things are getting spooky on Apple TV+ in October, with the arrival of a documentary title The Enfield Poltergeist.

Things that go bump

Landing on Apple TV+ just in time for Halloween is a look at a pretty famous real-world haunting, one that inspired one of the best-loved horror movies in recent years. The film was The Conjuring 2, and the case was The Enfield Poltergeist.

The new show of the same name explores the 1977 haunting itself, and does so in an interesting fashion. It’s a documentary for sure, but one with staged reimaginings to go along with actual recordings of terrifying voices and sounds heard in the London home where the events took place.

The original reels were captured by paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse, and they’re actually still quite chilling today. If you’re into the supernatural, or just up for a good ghost story, this is looking like one to check out.

In 1977, the terrifying haunting of an everyday family in Enfield, London, dominated headlines across the United Kingdom and had a tremendous impact on an entire generation of children. The mysterious case forever changed ideas about the supernatural and that it wasn’t just restricted to castles and stately homes but could be experienced by anyone, anywhere. The chilling story has inspired fictionalized versions of the case, including the film “The Conjuring 2,” a television series and two stage plays.

Apple TV+ press release

The terror of The Enfield Poltergeist will play out across four episodes, all exclusive to Apple TV+. If you’re into binging your shows too, you’re going to love the schedule, as all parts of the mini-series will drop on the same day, and just in time for Halloween.

Watch for Apple TV+’s The Enfield Poltergeist to be available on October 17th, 2023.
